Once the subbase is fully installed, we begin pouring 2.5 inches of binder asphalt and finish it off with 1.5 inches of the wear coat asphalt. First, you can remove the old asphalt and start over from scratch, or you can resurface the property. If there is a base beneath old asphalt, our professionals will be able to break up and remove the top layers of asphalt and replace it similarly to paving new asphalt. If you have a gravel driveway or parking lot, we will evaluate if the existing gravel serves as an adequate base to pour the asphalt over. If not, we will lay down an appropriate base and then continue the asphalt replacement.

Resurfacing asphalt is a bit different in that we only take the top layer of asphalt off, repair any cracks and fill any holes or areas of deteriorating asphalt, and then repave the top 1.5 inch layer of asphalt. No matter what we do, we also take into consideration water control and drainage as it is the number one reason why asphalt fails, especially with the big changes in Michigan weather.
